Liver is one of the most nutrient-dense foods you can eat. Liver also stands out for nutrients that are harder to find elsewhere. A 3-ounce pan-fried portion contains 356 milligrams of choline, a nutrient most people fall short on. And it provides about 33 micrograms per gram of Coenzyme Q10, a compound your cells use to generate energy. While beef heart contains more CoQ10, liver still offers meaningfully more than regular muscle meat.

Iron You Can Actually Absorb

Choline is essential for producing acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter involved in memory, mood, and muscle control. It also helps maintain the structural integrity of neurons by serving as a building block for the phospholipids that form cell membranes.
