That matched the benefit of a single 45-minute morning walk, but the post-meal approach had a unique advantage: it was the only protocol that significantly reduced the glucose spike after dinner, which is often the most problematic meal. The walking pace was moderate, roughly equivalent to a brisk stroll. You don’t need to jog or break a sweat for this to work.

Rearrange What’s on Your Plate

What you eat matters, but so does the order. Research on meal sequencing shows that eating vegetables and protein before carbohydrates slows the rate at which glucose enters your bloodstream. Fiber from the vegetables forms a gel-like layer in your stomach that delays digestion of the starches and sugars that follow. Protein and fat further slow gastric emptying. The result is a more gradual rise in blood sugar rather than a sharp spike.

In practical terms, this means starting with your salad or roasted vegetables, then moving to meat, fish, or another protein, and eating bread, rice, or pasta last. You don’t need to eliminate carbohydrates. You just eat them at the end of the meal. Increase Your Fiber Intake

When High Glucose Becomes an Emergency
