Results typically take a few business days. A nuclear medicine specialist or radiologist interprets the images and sends a report to your referring doctor, who will discuss the findings with you. In some health systems, results are available faster through online patient portals.

PSMA PET scans are significantly more sensitive than conventional imaging for detecting prostate cancer, particularly small metastases in lymph nodes or bones that older scans would miss.
