Anti-inflammatory pain shots (the kind often given for kidney stones or severe back pain) typically take around 30 minutes to reach their full effect, even when given through an IV. If you’ve been told “you should start feeling it soon,” that usually means somewhere in the 10 to 30 minute window for a muscle injection.
Numbing Shots
Local anesthetic injections, the kind used at the dentist or before stitches, are among the fastest-acting shots you’ll encounter.
