Most people eat well above it, and most should.

If you’re trying to lose weight, reducing to around 130 to 150 grams is a moderate approach backed by clinical trial data. If you’re training for a sport, you’ll need more, potentially much more, scaled to your body weight and training volume.
Pay attention to how you feel. Sustained energy throughout the day, stable mood, good workout performance, and regular digestion are signs your carb intake is in the right range. Persistent fatigue, brain fog, irritability, or poor recovery from exercise may signal you’ve cut too low. The best carb target is one that supports both your goals and your daily quality of life.
