“NAP” is an acronym shared by several organizations, so the right contact information depends on which one you need. The three most common are the National Academies Press (a publisher of scientific reports), the National Association of Parliamentarians, and the Nutrition Assistance Program (a food benefits program in U.S. territories). Here’s how to reach each one.
National Academies Press (NAP)
The National Academies Press publishes reports from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. If you need help with an order, want to download a publication, or have questions about permissions and licensing, customer service handles all of these.
- Phone: 800-624-6242 (toll-free within the U.S. and Canada)
- Email: [email protected]
- Mailing address: National Academies Press, 500 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001
If you’re sending a check payment, use a separate address: National Academies Press, PO Box 936141, Atlanta, GA 31193-6135. All other correspondence and orders go to the Washington, DC address.
Media Inquiries
Journalists and media professionals should contact the Office of News and Public Information rather than customer service. That office can be reached at [email protected] or 202-334-2138. For questions specifically about the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (the journal), email [email protected] instead.
National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP)
The National Association of Parliamentarians is a membership organization for people who study and practice parliamentary procedure. If you’re looking to join, find a registered parliamentarian, or ask about training and credentials, contact their headquarters in Independence, Missouri.
- Phone: 816-833-3892 (local) or 888-627-2929 (toll-free)
- Email: [email protected]
- Mailing address: 213 South Main Street, Independence, MO 64050
Nutrition Assistance Program (NAP)
The Nutrition Assistance Program provides food benefits in U.S. territories that don’t participate in SNAP. If you live in Puerto Rico or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and need help applying for or managing your benefits, contact your local office.
Puerto Rico
Puerto Rico’s NAP is administered by the territory’s Department of the Family. You can reach them at several numbers:
- Phone: 787-294-4900, 787-289-7600 ext. 311, 787-289-1199, or toll-free at 877-467-4832
Federal oversight comes from the USDA’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Office in Robbinsville, New Jersey, reachable at 609-259-5025.
Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI)
CNMI operates NAP offices on three islands. Contact the one closest to you:
