How to Get Energy to Workout When You’re Tired

The energy you bring to a workout depends on what you eat, when you eat it, how hydrated you are, and whether your body has the raw materials it needs to produce fuel at the cellular level. The fix is almost always a combination of nutrition timing, hydration, and a few simple habits that prime your body and brain to perform.

Eat the Right Foods at the Right Time

Aim to eat a meal or snack combining carbohydrates and protein one to four hours before your workout. The exact timing depends on how your stomach handles food during exercise.
