Plaque is a sticky, yellowish film of bacteria that forms on your teeth every single day, and the only way to get rid of it is mechanical removal through brushing, flossing, and rinsing. How to See What You’re Missing

Plaque is nearly invisible on teeth, which is why most people underestimate how much they’re leaving behind. Disclosing tablets solve this problem. You chew one after brushing, swish, and spit. The tablet contains a harmless dye that stains any remaining plaque pink or purple, showing you exactly which areas your technique is missing. Some two-tone versions use different colors to distinguish between newer plaque and older, more established biofilm.

Using disclosing tablets even once or twice a week trains you to adjust your brushing pattern.
