Well-trained athletes often have resting rates in the 40s or 50s, which reflects a heart that pumps more blood with each beat and doesn’t need to work as hard at rest. The good news is you don’t need to be an elite athlete to see meaningful improvement. A combination of regular cardio, stress management, and a few lifestyle adjustments can lower your resting heart rate over a period of weeks to months.
