Home remedies alone cannot fully eradicate H. pylori, the bacterium responsible for most stomach ulcers and a known driver of gastric cancer. Clearing the infection requires prescription antibiotics. But several foods and supplements have real evidence behind them for lowering bacterial levels, easing symptoms, and improving the success rate of antibiotic therapy. Here’s what actually works, what doesn’t, and how to use home strategies alongside medical treatment.
Why Antibiotics Are Still Necessary

Manuka Honey
Manuka honey contains methylglyoxal (MGO) and its precursor dihydroxyacetone, both of which inhibit the urease enzyme H. pylori depends on for survival. Lab studies found that manuka honey concentrations as low as 2.5% inhibited H. pylori growth across multiple clinical strains.
A small clinical trial tested mastic gum and standard antibiotics head-to-head and showed that natural remedies alone produced far lower eradication rates.
