A heart rate of 160 beats per minute is high at rest but can be completely normal during exercise, depending on your age. The normal resting heart rate for adults falls between 60 and 100 bpm, so 160 at rest is well above that threshold and needs medical attention. During a workout, though, 160 bpm may land right in your target training zone or push past your safe maximum, and your age is the deciding factor.

160 bpm During Exercise: Normal or Too High?
