How to Get an Accurate Reading
Your resting heart rate can swing by 10 or more beats depending on when and how you measure it. For the most reliable number, check it first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. Sit or lie still for at least five minutes before measuring. Caffeine, stress, a recent meal, or even a hot room can all push the number higher than your true baseline.
