Pediatric nutrition guidelines consistently flag coconut milk as inadequate for young children unless their diet compensates for the missing protein and micronutrients elsewhere. If a child can’t tolerate dairy, fortified soy milk is a closer nutritional substitute than coconut milk.
Best Uses for Each
The practical answer is that coconut milk and dairy milk excel in different situations. It’s not trying to be a protein source, and it shouldn’t be treated as one.
