What Pre-Workout Protein Actually Does
When you lift weights or do any resistance training, you create microscopic damage in your muscle fibers. Your body repairs that damage by building new muscle protein, a process called muscle protein synthesis. To do this efficiently, it needs a supply of amino acids from the protein you eat.
Drinking a protein shake before training means those amino acids are already circulating by the time you finish your workout.
