Benefits for Older Adults

What About Your Kidneys?
High protein intake does increase your kidneys’ workload. Animal research shows that high-protein diets raise the rate at which kidneys filter blood and can cause them to enlarge. However, in healthy adults with no pre-existing kidney disease, this appears to be a normal adaptive response rather than a sign of damage. Blood pressure and fluid balance remain stable.
