The gentler abrasive profile of gel toothpaste is both its strength and its limitation. If you have sensitive teeth, receding gums, or worn enamel, a low-abrasivity gel can clean effectively without aggravating those conditions. For everyday plaque removal, gels perform comparably to paste.
Where gels fall short is surface stain removal. The mild abrasives in a gel formula don’t scrub away coffee, tea, or tobacco stains as aggressively as a whitening paste loaded with higher-abrasivity particles.
