Understanding Jasmine’s Specific Nutritional Needs

Nitrogen primarily supports vigorous vegetative growth, leading to healthy leaves and strong stems. However, excessive nitrogen results in a plant that produces only foliage at the expense of blooms.
Phosphorus is directly responsible for flower bud formation, root development, and overall energy transfer within the plant. For jasmine, a generous supply of phosphorus is necessary to maximize blossoms. Potassium contributes to the plant’s overall resilience, improving its ability to withstand stress and resist various diseases. Jasmine also benefits from micronutrients such as iron and magnesium, which prevent leaf yellowing, known as chlorosis.
Selecting the Ideal Fertilizer Type and Ratio
The most effective fertilizer for jasmine is a “bloom-booster,” meaning the NPK ratio favors phosphorus (the middle number).
