- Older adults (65+): The circadian clock continues shifting earlier. Many older adults naturally wake between 5 and 7 a.m. Earlier wake times are fine as long as bedtime shifts earlier to preserve total sleep duration.
Making Your Wake Time Work Better
If you regularly wake up groggy regardless of timing, you’re likely either cutting into deep sleep or not sleeping long enough. Try shifting your alarm in 15-minute increments for a few days at a time. A small adjustment can land you in a lighter sleep stage and transform how you feel in the morning.
Avoid hitting snooze.
