Numbness that only affects a specific part of your hand, like one or two fingers, and is clearly tied to repetitive activities suggests carpal tunnel or ulnar nerve compression that could benefit from targeted treatment before permanent nerve damage occurs. Visible muscle wasting at the base of your thumb, or a weakening grip that causes you to drop things, means the compression has been significant enough to affect the nerve fibers that control movement, not just sensation.
