These gut receptors also sit on cells that produce hormones involved in insulin regulation. Research from the American Diabetes Association notes that while sucralose delivered directly to the stomach doesn’t trigger these hormones on its own, drinking a sucralose-sweetened beverage before consuming glucose amplifies the hormonal response to that glucose.
